ABOUT

Mushroom was a next-generation social media platform designed specifically for gamers, blending the best aspects of social networks and MMOs. As Principal Product Designer, I led design efforts to create a seamless, engaging experience, contributing to its rapid growth—scaling from 0 to nearly 1 million DAUs and securing $20M in Series A funding.

Responsibilities

I developed Mushroom’s branding, UI/UX, and scalable design system, ensuring consistency across the platform. My work included designing core features, creating interactive prototypes, refining onboarding flows, and collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to bring the vision to life. Additionally, I crafted marketing assets, landing pages, and a modular design template system for efficient content production.

Project Focus

One of my primary contributions was designing a gamified digital currency system (Mushcoin) to drive user engagement. I mapped out the ecosystem, designed the Quests system, leaderboards, in-app economy, and integration with popular games like Valorant, Fortnite, and Minecraft. The system boosted retention by allowing users to earn and spend Mushcoins on profile customizations, wagers, and in-game enhancements—leading to a significant increase in user engagement and platform growth.
